The use of In Waist Band holsters as a method of conceal carry is an excellent option for many individuals. This is especially true for firearms that are too big for pocket carry. An IWB holster is held tighter to your body from the tightening of your belt. Most of the holsters we make can be made as an IWB holster. Many individuals that carry two firearms use an IWB holster for a primary firearm and a pocket holster as a back up or secondary firearm.
A Bear Creek IWB holster can be constructed with or without a cant/rake at various degrees of slant. Typically, an approximate cant of 15-20 degrees is normal. The purpose of the cant is to tilt the firearm forward, thus making the butt of the firearm tilt upwards. This will make it easier to conceal. Larger firearms can have a guard added to the leather on the body side to make it more comfortable. A thin sleeveless T-shirt (tank top style) worn under an outer shirt helps keep leather, metal, and moisture from rubbing your skin. The use of a good thick belt helps support an IWB holster.
Generally speaking you will need to wear an oversized outer shirt to help conceal an IWB holstered firearm. Also, longer shirts help conceal best. If you wear tight or form fitting shirts, your weapon is, more likely than not, going to print or show through your shirt.
